Guten Tag, Reader, My yoga teacher snaps a photo and sends it to her partner. My friends use it to open the day as a family before they each head their own way. Another friend uses it as a connective thread to her sister back east. Each of those little stories from people using my Holiday Slowdown card deck warms my heart with joy and pride. It was my colleague, though, who used a phrase that I wrote down because I did not want to forget: “You provide a moment.”I loved that. Because that’s exactly what I hoped the advent calendar would become: not another thing to check off, but a tiny doorway into presence. Connection. Intention. Maybe that’s why it sold out this year.* I trusted my hunch that it wasn’t just me who was craving moments — small, intentional pauses to remind us we’re human beings, not just human task-checker-offers. Her remark got me thinking about the many ways my work has become about providing moments: On coaching calls. On Mindful Saunters. On Forest Bathing sessions. And, of course, on the river:
Not dramatic. Not orchestrated. Just real. As my friend Angie and I plan our 2026 wildHER retreat through the Gates of Lodore, I keep returning to this truth: Life doesn’t change from grand declarations. It changes from moment to moment — intended and tended, chosen on purpose. Our previous participants know what I am talking about. I think that’s why our alumnae have already claimed half of our 2026 spots. Wondering if one of the remaining seats on the boat might be for you? Reach out, and we’ll figure it out together. Provide your Self some moments this week.Nothing big or long. Just something intentional that lasts 30 seconds to 2 minutes.
Tiny rituals. Sacred pauses. They add up. Tell me:I’d love to hear how you’re finding (or making) these pockets of presence in your life. And how it feels in your body to provide those moments for your Self. I will see you back here in two weeks. If you liked this letter, please forward it to a friend. Always on your side, truly, *Buckets of gratitude to each of you who bought a deck for yourself, a friend, a family member, a colleague... I was FLORED when I sold the last three of 100 decks last week. Let it be an inspiration for you to go with an idea and stick with it, even when it gets difficult. I was so tempted to make only 50 decks, and I am glad I trusted my belief in the idea. p.s. If you found something valuable in today's letter, why not buy me a coffee? I am keeping my writing AI-free, which means a lot of creativity goes into it. You can leave a tip for me here. |
